What do software engineers want from their boss?

iiSM.ORG® Study asked Engineers, “if you could design your own boss, Bob, what would he do?”
Experiment consisted of three geographically diverse groups of engineers (US, China, Australia), 30 participants in total
Participants were asked to identify their “Top 3 Priorities”
Participant were then asked to “Vote 1 Down” of the group’s priorities
Results: all 3 groups of engineers exhibited a clear preference for having a boss that Provides a clear sense of purpose, vision, and mission.
